What is the maximum speed of Accelstepper? ›

The fastest motor speed that can be reliably supported is about 4000 steps per second at a clock frequency of 16 MHz on Arduino such as Uno etc.

FULL STEP. Standard hybrid stepping motors have 200 rotor teeth, or 200 full steps per revolution of the motor shaft. Dividing the 200 steps into the 360° of rotation equals a 1.8° full step angle. Normally, full step mode is achieved by energizing both windings while reversing the current alternately.

Stepper motors have remarkable stopping accuracy, and accurate control with open-loop is possible. For example, when using the RK II Series for positioning of a rotating table, its stopping accuracy is within ±0.05° (with no load).

To calculate the stepper speed, divide the step angle by 360, multiply by the pulse frequency, then multiply by 60？ there is a large difference between RPM when calculating theoretically and manually. 1 step takes 2*3.5msec = 7msec.

Half-step mode vs Micro-stepping mode

While in micro-stepping mode, each full step is divided into much smaller steps by varying the current level into the coil. In half-step mode, the motor moves half the step angle for each pulse resulting in double the number of steps per revolution and less smooth operation.

The skipping steps is when the synchronization between the electrical windings and the mechanical rotor go out of alignment. The electrical part of it can move faster than the mechanical part of it can respond, so that can make it lose synchronization.
