Where to catch whetfish in MHW? ›

Yeah, the only good way to get whetfish is the fishing machine mini-game. There's a quick way to restock your nets btw; just use the 1* caravan quest that has you deliver a well-done or rare steak 3 times and you're good to go again.

Whetfish Fins can be used from the Item Bar while in the field to restore the Sharpness of a Weapon, similarly to a Whetstone. These fins perform better than Whetstones, requiring only 2 cycles, and are equivalent to level 2 Speed Sharpening. Whetfish Fins are consumed upon use.

HR 7 > HR 8

Once you complete the HR 8 Urgent Quest, you become G Rank, which opens up the hardest difficulty of monsters in the game, along with the best gear.

Moga Bee Yard: For honey and insects such as Flashbugs, Godbugs and Thunderbugs, this is the farm to use. To unlock, you'll need to do the 3-star village "Boulder-bash" quest where you hunt a Tetsucabra.

The Rathian can be found in the Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste.

Whetstones are a yellow item you will automatically have when using a blademaster weapon. You can find them in the inventory bar or the radial menu.

Where you'll find the Anjanath. The Anjanath is the king of the Ancient Forest. You can usually find it prowling for food in the northern part of the map, between sectors 12, 6, 7, 11, and 5. The Anjanath is a roamer, which is why you've most likely encountered one before.

If you want to face Kirin at High Rank, you must get to Hunter Rank 49 first. As for its location within the Coral Highlands, if you start at the north-west campsite, it'll be in this elevated set of areas (12, 13 and 15). You should find tracks pretty quickly, and you can go from there.
